1. Most obvious is when sewer waters are backing up in your basement space from your basement floor drain(
basement drain sewer backup). Most likely you have serious sewer line issue, either breakage of the main drain or heavy
drain blockage in the line.
That is what considered an
emergency, do not hesitate to call our office
416-881-6151 if you experience sewer drain backup or have
pipe clog, we know how to diagnose it with
drain camera inspection & how to clear it with
drain snake.
2. Slow drainage
Here we are not talking about only one fixture. Usually it is more than one fixture, especially at lower level of the house acting odd. Gurgling sound, slow drainage. That might be a sign of broken main sewer line.
3. Odd Sounds
If you could hear odd sounds when you flush your toilet, gurgling sounds, like air is trapped in the pipe. Then it might be also a sign. There should not be any air in the sewer line.
4. Sewer odor from your drain openings
If you noticed sewer smell from the drain openings, especially those ones which are located in the basement. (Lower level or basement is the most common area for indicating problem since main drain line runs under living premises under the concrete floor and connected to the city sewer main outside.)
5. Water supply system changes
We have noticed even water supply may act oddly in case of
Drain blockage. Like the might be problem with getting hot water or vise versa, or problem with only one particular fixture.
*BTW
The City of Toronto provide Toronto Water Investigation if all pipes in your house are clogged, you could request the service online or call 311 to find out if the problem on private property or city side. Please visit
www.toronto.ca to learn more about that service. One of the requirement is you to have a clean out outside for your main drain line. Please give us a call if you have any further questions on how to install clean out for your property. City would do repairs if the
drain pipe clog is located on the City side of the sewer drain line.
